Imagine having a painting that captures your wedding day, or maybe a drawing of the leopard you photographed on safari!
As an established artist with a BA in Fine Art and over 300 paintings sold to date, I can change any photograph into a work of art. I work in oils on stretched canvas or in pencil on paper. The size and medium is up to you! Prices are worked out according to size, medium and subject-matter. My art is not only a lasting memory , but also an investment piece. Each unique painting and drawing will include a certificate of authenticity.
Had the same thought Peter - maybe we are just a bit too sensitive!
On a sidebar: I see so many artists who paint from photo's in books and postcards etc. and never give the original artist credit. They copy and make a living off other people's art. There was a thread on DPReview where a tog actually sued a painter who was doing that and he won the case and a hefty payment.
I have 3 artists who paint from my images, and they all pay me.

I agree that it is unfair to use someone's hard earned photo for a painting for your own gain. I ask for permission, and always give credit where credit is due.
Jolene - from what I have seen your paintings are really superb. I dont think anyone can fault you there - really very well done. Great photo-realism. You must have a great market.
I think tho that the problem is not you or how good you are - but rather as mentioned - that is it a sensitive subject - the one of photos versus paintings being called art. Especially in the past couple of weeks - there has been some discussion about fine art photography on various site and forums. Everyone wants to be regarded as an artist (obviously) - so please dont see this as a personal remark about your work, but rather about the subject.
I hope you get LOTS of stuff to paint! LIke Mark - I have two artists that also paints my work, and its lovely to see.
What would be regarded as a reasonable fee for an artist to pay in order to paint a photo? After all, the artist does get a rather decent price for the paintings!
